Common Faults and Solutions for Plate and Frame Filter Presses

The plate and frame filter press is a commonly used sludge treatment equipment.Different manufacturers produce filter presses with varying degrees of automation and sludge treatment efficiency.However,if abnormal conditions or obvious malfunctions occur during operation,the sludge utilization efficiency of the filter press can be significantly reduced.

Three Common Issues and Solutions

Slow Movement of Filter Plates

If the filter plates move slowly during sludge discharge,check for oil stains or dirt on the guide rod.

If there is excessive dirt,clean it immediately and apply grease to ensure smooth movement.

Avoid using thin oil,as it may drip onto the ground and pose a safety hazard to operators and maintenance personnel.

Water Leakage Between Plates and Frames

Possible causes of leakage include:

Water pressure drop

Wrinkled filter cloth

Holes in the filter cloth

Blockages on the sealing surface

Solution:

Check and increase hydraulic pressure

Replace the filter cloth if damaged

Clean any blockages on the sealing surface

Failure to Form Filter Cake or Uneven Filter Cake

Low sludge feed rate

Blocked or deformed filter plates

Traditional plate and frame filter presses use cylindrical filter plates,which,after long-term use,are prone to these issues.

Solution:

Increase the sludge feed rate

Clean or replace the filter cloth

Clear drainage holes

Increase sludge feed pump pressure

Start the press at low pressure and operate continuously
