How a Sludge Filter Press Works

Before operating the sludge filter press, check the integrity of key components such as the filter plates, filter cloth, hydraulic station, and drainage valve to ensure safe and reliable operation. Unlock the explosion-proof switch, connect the power supply, and press the start button on the control cabinet. The power indicator light will turn on.

The filter plates of the press move forward simultaneously, forming a high-pressure state. Under this high pressure, the plates press and maintain pressure. When the oil pressure in the cylinder reaches the preset 14MPa on the electric contact pressure gauge, the high-pressure pump will continue for 15–20 seconds before stopping. If the pressure drops to 12MPa due to liquid leakage, the high-pressure pump will restart automatically to refill the oil, ensuring the self-protection pressure of the hydraulic cylinder.

Next, monitor the slurry level in the concentration tank and start the single-screw pump. Open the hydraulic feed valve of the filter press to begin the feeding process. Monitor the feeding pressure gauge and adjust the bypass valve to keep the pressure below 0.4MPa, while ensuring the rear-end cylinder pressure remains below 14MPa.

During the filtration process, the operator must continuously monitor, inspect, and adjust the pressure. When sludge begins to discharge from the outlet valve, close it and replace the filter cloth if necessary. If mud leakage occurs between the filter plates, stop the machine immediately, flatten the filter cloth, and resume pressing.

After 40 minutes of filtration, when the liquid output decreases, stop the single-screw pump and close the feed valve. Then, open the feed gate valve to blow air into the machine for 15 minutes, drying the sludge between the filter plates. Finally, close the feed gate valve to complete the process.
