Mud Filter Presses for Industrial Sludge Dehydration

Mud filter presses are mostly used for dehydrating industrial sludge in industries such as papermaking, starch, alcohol, and vitamin C engineering. The water-containing sludge is transported to the sludge mixing tank by a sludge pump, where a coagulant is added for a full mixing reaction. The sludge then flows into the belt sludge press, where it is evenly distributed in the gravity dehydration area under the two-way dredging of the sludge rake and the effect of gravity.

The sludge follows the movement of the dewatering filter belt, allowing the free water in the sludge to be quickly removed. Since the gravity dewatering zone is designed to be long, maximum gravity dewatering is achieved. The flipped sludge then enters the ultra-long wedge-shaped pre-pressing dewatering zone, where it is slowly clamped after leaving the gravity zone, forming a sandwich-like angle layer. It undergoes sequential and gradual pre-pressurization.

The remaining free water in the mud layer is reduced to a minimum. As the upper and lower filter belts slowly move forward, the space between them gradually decreases, and the mud layer in the center hardens. After passing through the pre-pressing and dehydrating large-diameter filter roller, a large amount of free water is removed, allowing the mud cake to smoothly enter the kneading and dehydration area and proceed to the "S" pressing section. In this section, the sludge is sandwiched between the upper and lower filter cloths and repeatedly squeezed by several pressing rollers.

When the upper and lower filter belts pass through the wavy path formed by staggered rollers, their positions alternate, generating shear force on the clamped mud cake. This action filters out most of the remaining water in the sludge, further dehydrating the mud cake. The dry mud cake is then scraped off by a scraper and transported to the sludge storage area by a belt conveyor or a shaftless screw conveyor.
