Classification and advantages of diaphragm filter press

The filter plate diaphragm filter press is a filter press with an elastic membrane installed between the filter plate and the filter cloth. During use, after the feeding is completed, high-pressure fluid or gas medium can be injected into the diaphragm plate, and then the entire diaphragm will expand and squeeze the filter cake, so that the filter cake is further dehydrated, which is commonly known as filter pressure.

The diaphragm filter press has the advantages of good corrosion resistance, high pressing pressure, safety and reliability, and easy maintenance. It is the preferred choice of customers in the gas, metallurgy, papermaking, coking, food, pharmaceutical, brewing, fine chemical, and other industries, and has been widely used in various fields requiring solid-liquid separation. The diaphragm filter press is considered to be an alternative and upgraded equipment for ordinary box filter presses and has shown good results in terms of processing capacity per unit area, reducing filter cake moisture and adaptability to the properties of the processed materials. The main difference between the diaphragm filter press and the ordinary box filter press is that two layers of elastic membrane are installed on both sides of the filter plate. During operation, when the feeding is completed, the high-pressure fluid medium can be injected into the diaphragm plate, and then the entire diaphragm will bulge and press the filter cake, thereby achieving further dehydration of the filter cake, that is, filter pressing. Compared with the traditional box filter press, the diaphragm filter press has greatly reduced the cost of filter cake transportation. The solid content of the filter cake can be increased by more than 2 times, and the filter cake can be directly burned in the power plant, which truly turns sludge into resources and sewage into fresh water, completely replacing the box filter press.

Types of Diaphragm Filter Press

According to the different diaphragm materials, the new generation of diaphragm filter presses can be divided into rubber diaphragm filter presses and elastomer diaphragm filter presses.

1. Rubber diaphragm filter press is suitable for filtering materials of weak acid, weak base, and non-organic solvent. The rubber diaphragm filter press saves energy consumption after feeding, changing the shortcomings of the past split fixed type. The new design makes the rubber diaphragm drum more sufficient, and the pressure and gas volume used are relatively small. Under the same gas source and gas volume, the rubber diaphragm drum is 3 times that of the polymer diaphragm drum, which can greatly reduce energy consumption.

2. Elastomer diaphragm filter press is used for strong acid, strong alkali, and organic solvent materials, with a long service life and ideal performance. Its pressing forms are divided into gas (air) pressure and liquid (water) pressure, which can meet the needs of different industries. According to customer needs, the pressing parts can be controlled by PLC and human-machine interface and can be configured as food-grade and ordinary grade. For general materials, after 3-15 minutes, the diaphragm tympanic membrane can fully exert the function of squeezing and dehydration. For some special materials, a segmented pressing method of low pressure first and then high pressure can also be adopted.

Efficient Dehydration Process

The diaphragm filter press realizes the filtration process of efficient dehydration and can ensure that the filter press plays a good filtering effect, greatly reducing the moisture content of the filter cake. After the feeding process is completed, the dehydration efficiency of the whole machine is improved by squeezing the filter cake, the dryness of the filter cake is increased, pollution is reduced, and labor is reduced. In some processes, the drying process can even be omitted.
